What It's All About

A Quick Hello!

As a first-time blogger, I'll be real; I'm not quite sure how to kick this off!  Let's just cut to the chase.  I've been blessed with the opportunity to experience Christ through my church, family, sports, and school for the past 18 years of my life and just recently decided to begin sharing these experiences with others for the purpose of furthering our Lord's message in this world!  I am not the most skilled writer and do not pretend to have wonderful or profound thoughts, just a passionate love for Jesus and how He has turned the mundane into the miraculous through His power!!

If I had to choose one word to describe today's world of Social Media Central, I would choose this: noise.  Covertly mixed into nearly every message, sermon, blog post, or instagram caption, I constantly see opinion mixed with truth, feeling mixed with message, and confused, personal experience mixed with God's holy Word.  C.S. Lewis depicts in his novel, The Screwtape Letters, what he believes to be the devil's POV on using noise to attempt to diminish God. "Music and silence - how I detest them both!  ... Noise - Noise, the grand dynamism, the audible expression of all that is exultant, ruthless, and virile ... we will make the whole universe a noise in the end."

Noise.  It is the direct combatant to what God communicates in Isaiah 30 and Matthew 11.  "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..." (Matthew 11:28 ESV).  "...In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength" (Isaiah 30:15 ESV). [emphasis mine:)] In these passages, God shows Himself to us as a source of rest and quietness!!!  Satan directly opposes this with noise; it is his most valued tool to distract from a clear and concise Gospel.  My goal for "Truth. & That's It!" is to cut the noise.  Distraction.  Chaos. and then replace those adjectives (which describe almost everything in the 21st century) with quietness.   Rest.  and most importantly, a whole-hearted reliance on the Word of God as the sole source of our truth.  Stay tuned, ya'll! ;)
